Kirk Park is North Port's November Park of the Month

The City of North Port is inviting residents to check out Kirk Park, located at 8305 Trionfo Avenue, as this month's "Park of the Month."
In conjunction with the National Park and Recreation Month in July, the City of North Port Parks and Recreation Division implemented the Park of the Month campaign to increase awareness of the City's neighborhood parks and associated amenities.

Parks and Recreation Manager Sandy Pfundheller hopes residents will "take a few minutes to visit the parks, connect with the environment and recognize the resources that exist in the community. Parks and recreation activities can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities. I encourage everyone to get outside, get active and play for life."

Kirk Park is one of ten neighborhood parks within the City of North Port parks system and is November's Park of the Month. Although a portion of the Kirk Park property was dedicated to the City of North Port Charlotte in 1966, the deeds for the entire site were presented by General Development Corporation to the City of North Port at a Commission workshop in June of 1976. The .52 acre park includes green space with Live Oak, American Elm, Eucalyptus and Phoenix Reclinata, also known as wild date palm. Amenities include picnic tables, benches, grill and a small pavilion that accommodates up to 25 people. The pavilion is available for rental through the Parks and Recreation Division. There is also a playground, basketball court and sand volleyball court on site.

As part of the Park of the Month campaign, residents are encouraged to take photos of their visit to the park of the month and submit them to the Parks and Recreation Division. Ten photos will be selected randomly to be highlighted on the City website each month and may be included in future marketing materials to promote recreation activities, parks and facilities. Please submit photographs in .jpg format (5MB limit per image) to parks@cityofnorthport.com.
